Simona Cerutti

Simona Cerutti is an  historian,  Directrice d’études  at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Her work focuses on social classifications and the language of rights in early modern societies. She is responsible for an international research group on "Citizenship and Property in the North and South of the Mediterranean (XIVth-XIXth centuries)." She is the author of La ville et les métiers: Naissance d'un langage corporatif (Turin, XVIIe-XVIIIe siècle),  EHESS, Paris 1990 ; Étrangers: Etude d'une condition d'incertitude dans une société d'Ancien Régime, Bayard, Paris 2012; Justice sommaire: Pratiques et idéaux de justice dans une société d'Ancien Régime, EHESS, Paris 2021 (ed . or.
